Enjoying my Zen Moment and a tangle for Valentine's day !

It's again that time of the year, where " Love is in the air " . Yes you guessed it-- Valentine's day is around the corner. I created two zentangles over the last week and one of them is for Valentine's day.

Here are the pics

My painting at the City Attorney's office, Sunnyvale

Hello All,
If you are visiting the Sunnyvale 's City Attorney's office,  you can get to view  my painting " Feline Avatar" . It will be on display for 2 months i.e February & March,2014.

This painting is a mixed media painting. It is inspired by Cubism. I like bright colors and these colors pop in a dark background. The texture you see on the painting is done by scrunching ( Yes ! scrunching is a word :) ) tissue paper, various Acrylic paints, collage techniques and markers were used to create this beautiful piece of art. This would go well in a kids/children's room or in the children's space in a library or in an after school office. This piece can also find a place in a Dentist/ Pediatric clinic/ office ( Kids get distracted with the colors, shapes and textures in the painting , making the job easier for Dentist/Pediatrician  :) , Adults also included)

For those of you who cannot make it here is a picture of my painting.

Medium: Mixed media on Canvas
Size: 18 "x20"

See you all soon with another post. Until then I leave you all with the following questions
  1. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you see this painting?
  2. Why do you think that I  painted a cat this way?

Have fun and would love to hear your comments here. Thanks for hopping by.

My Perfect way to end 2013 and start 2014

Recently I discovered Zentangle  art and I must say that  I am hooked !  It is relaxing, unleashes your creative side of your brain and the best part is there is no right or wrong way.

Zentangle is a new form of artwork, created by a calligrapher (Maria) and a monk (Rick). The artwork is as simple as drawing one simple pattern after the next, and fitting them together. These abstract works of art are typically done using a micron pen which is a very delicate tool used by artists. It is created on a  3.5" x 3.5" ( 8.9x8.9 cm)  art paper called a "tile".All of the patterns have fun names, such as "Jetties" or "Bales", and there are now hundreds of patterns available through books and online. The art uses patterns found in nature that have been around for centuries, and are easy to recreate. The original patterns were created by Rick and Maria, but since it's creation new patterns have emerged in leaps and bounds. In order to teach zentangle, you must become certified through a program taught by Maria and Rick. To learn the art, there are any number of available teaching resources found on the zentangle website, or there are now hundreds of certified teachers to begin training those who are new to the art of zentangle.

My favorite  Zentangle book is -- "One Zentangle A Day" -- A 6 week course on Creative Drawing for relaxation, inspiration, and fun. by Beckah Krahula

Favorite online resources on zentangle

This year i decided that I would end 2013 & start 2014 doing my favorite thing-- that is creating art. So
the zentangle you see below was started at 9 pm on Dec 31,2013 and finished on to the new year (2014)
That way I can start the new year with a creative spirit !
