Hummingbirds generally like the nectar from Heliconia flowers. It is actually their favorite flower to drink nectar.
4) I purchased a Tulip at a local farmers market. It was so beautiful that I decided to put my scientific illustration skills to test and created this artwork from life. The moths in the picture is also my own reference. I attended an event called "Moth Night" on National moth day last year. I added this moth to add visual interest to this composition. I made rough sketches of this moth in my sketchbook and used them as reference for my artwork. The magnification of these moths have been reduced in scale.
Note: This will be my last entry under Gold section and from now onwards I move to the Blue/Advanced section.
Club members who win the monthly competition at the club get to display their painting at a local cafe located in downtown Sunnyvale,CA for the whole month ( Mar 22- April 24, 2019) under the signage " Sunnyvale Art Club's Artist of the month" signage.
Here is my picture below the signage at the cafe.
6) This is my entry for the Colored Pencil Magazine' s Sep 2018 challenge.
